    Simple Outdoor Garden Light Installation

Looks like it could be class II rated? So I don't need any protection, i.e conduit, where the cable flex is exposed, just clip direct to wall? Ideally, I was hoping for conduit along the whole run, but I couldn't find any 90 degree fittings where the cable bends into the wall, which is odd. Or...

    Simple Outdoor Garden Light Installation

Hi Eric, sorry forgot to mention I'm from England. I've already got the lamp post, bought new in 2002. It's IP rated, I'll check numbers tomorrow and report back. Thanks for your reply.

    Simple Outdoor Garden Light Installation

Hi there, I'm planning on installing an outdoor garden light (lamp post type with three 60w bulbs). It will simply be wired with a 3 amp plug, as don't wish to wire it permanently into the lighting circuit. I already have the socket available right at the consumer unit which is handy. I'm just...

Dyson DC03 How do I dismantle???

This thread should be stickied. I am a proud owner of a DC03 which I've had since 2002 and I was in the same situation where I needed to remove a damaged section of cord. I can confirm that this is correct. Basically, there are two lugs on the yellow power switch which are secured by recesses...

    Isolator Valves on Pushfit Pipe

Just the thoughts of a diy'er but as you've not had any other responses, I'll tell you as much as I know on the subject ! I can't say though whether to go with plastic as I've never worked with it. The majority of flexi tap connectors, isolator valves and supplied tap tails will all reduce the...

New uPVC Underground Drain Fittings Seeping

Ok guys I have some updates, but before I continue: So now I realise now what was initially missing from my installation! I'll give you all a hint: Led Zeppelin, The rolling stones, Queen and of course, The Beatles. Still clueless?? Ok, this picture may help: Answer: Rockers (formally...

New uPVC Underground Drain Fittings Seeping

Many thanks Hugh. I'll see how I get on. I feel confident regarding the rest of the run where gullies will be installed but I might just need some confirmation nearer the time as to whether anything needs to be altered. I'll be using double socket adjustable bends on those traps to meet the...

New uPVC Underground Drain Fittings Seeping

Certainly will. I've decided to replace the 45 degree also so I'm following his advice to the letter now. Thanks for the constant feedback by the way. It's been very much appreciated.

New uPVC Underground Drain Fittings Seeping

I'll make sure it's all correct then. So what I've decided to do is take the advice what Hugh already provided and redo the part from the IC and adaptor with the fixed parts he suggested which I bought today. But thing is I couldn't manage to get the 45 degree so I'm wondering whether to keep...

New uPVC Underground Drain Fittings Seeping

Considering my new drainage run is connecting onto existing clay via an adapter, leaving the drainage at the front intact, I would regard the current work I'm doing as a repair.

New uPVC Underground Drain Fittings Seeping

Hi Hugh Jaleak - thanks for that. Well, it's comforting to know that the ringseals aren't generally prone to leaking then. I can relax a bit better reading that. I'm not really too concerned regarding the connections at the clay pipe simply because the section in the picture will be removed...

New uPVC Underground Drain Fittings Seeping

Ok so I see you have all your male spigot joints going in the direction of flow. However, you still have your bit of pipe off cut male going in the opposite direction going into the outlet socket of your bottle gully. So why should a male end of an adjustable bend be an exception? This is all...

New uPVC Underground Drain Fittings Seeping

Exactly Ian. So whatever male end is used whether pipe or fitting shouldn't make any difference as they are exactly the same and whatever is used, that female socket exiting the IC MUST receive a male end to make the connection. Unless it's not as simple as that.

New uPVC Underground Drain Fittings Seeping

Many thanks for that aptsys makes more sense now, but ok lets say I turn the fitting round, how would the male spigot end of that fitting connect to that pipe? That would mean connecting male end of spigot to male end of pipe which simply won't work right? And lets say instead I use a bit of...

New uPVC Underground Drain Fittings Seeping

Well, if I was a cowboy, I wouldn't have been desperately trying to figure out why the joints in my work are seeping. I wouldn't have bothered to take time out to make a thread on here, I'd just let them seep and carry on, get the job done and put my feet up, but I know that the fittings are...

New uPVC Underground Drain Fittings Seeping

Thanks Doggit for taking the time to provide a thorough explanation, which clearly is more than what Dan Robinson cared to eleaborate on. Yeah, I've heard of OSMA fittings, thanks, yeah they were briefly highlighted in the floplast installation video on youtube. " Solvent-weld systems rely...

New uPVC Underground Drain Fittings Seeping

Well, unless you can explain how they are the wrong way round, then I'll have to disagree; simply because the male spigot end is the end (not the socket end which is female) which goes into the inspection chamber and is running in the direction of the flow of the water. This how the parts are...

New uPVC Underground Drain Fittings Seeping

not entirely sure what you mean but the middle seeps also not just the ends so ill redo with silicone bulwell, nottingham hence why i'd need a bus but it would mean extra faffing around and still no guarantee of leakfree joints

New uPVC Underground Drain Fittings Seeping

Hi Ian, thanks, never heard of that firm before. Seems I have one near me (well, not close enough sadly would mean getting the bus lol) Well, thing is, I've already got the all the parts now and I'e only got 2 weeks to finish this and tbh, I bought the flexibends because this is my first...

New uPVC Underground Drain Fittings Seeping

Hi again newboy, many thanks for your replies: Yeah I edited because it didn't seem very concise. Ok, perhaps the seal has been displaced because looking back I had to remove the fittings a couple of times because I was having trouble with alignment. Perhaps silicone will rectify it? It's...
