    Bodged Toilet..what to do next?

The cistern can't be raised as it is already tight up against the shelf above it. Were it possible to get a fitting that does an immediate 90 degrees out of the cistern it would work OK, but I can't see myself finding one. The alternative is to get a chippy to cut the shelf out and put in a low...

    Bodged Toilet..what to do next?

A bathroom company (no longer trading) installed a wet room and raised the toilet pedestal. The outlet from the concealed cistern is a flexi which now has its own U bend forced into it and leaks. Hopefully here is a photo. Any ideas beyond pulling the whole lot out and putting in a new non...

    Heat exchanger

My advice is not to flush it. Then your heating will most likely break down in the summer which apparently is no problem for you. Alfredo

    DAB Evosta pump

It does seem to me that nobody has thought of how these variable pumps can affect a system that is less than perfect. When the original Grundfos Alpha came out we fitted lots, and we too found that there was a tendency in some cases for the boiler to lockout on overheat as presumably the pump...

    Radiators

Seeing as you don't want a debate. The only question you actually ask is "Are Stelrad any Good?" To which the answer is. Yes. Good luck with the rest. Alfredo

issues with ideal he24isar boiler no heating or water

Seeing as nobody has succeeded in fixing the boiler so far I don't see a problem in Ideal technical offering support to get them going in the right direction. I have an Ideal Turbo 2.18....still trogging along happily after 21 years now.  Alfredo

BOILER SHUTTING DOWN DUE TO THE PUMP GETTING AIR INSIDE

So its possible that the original system was just pumping round the HW cylinder until the boiler stat was satisfied and the 2 port was wired up to a roomstat for the radiators....? Seen that a few times on naff housing developments penny pinching. All the same..if the installer you used...

BOILER SHUTTING DOWN DUE TO THE PUMP GETTING AIR INSIDE

I'd just put some more inhibitor in mate. You never know. Well whoever put that in obviously never knew either. If my budgerigar did an install like that I'd still sack him. Alfredo

worcester bosch boiler disconnected today by engineer

You choose which you would prefer: 1) To Run Pipe internally. Move furniture, carpets/flooring drill holes in floors, lift floorboards across X number of rooms and landings......put your pipe in, test it and put everything back 2) To run pipe externally. Whack a few clips on the wall...

becoming gas safe in 2 years

A local lad here spent nearly £10k getting 'qualified' as a plumber on one of these so called 'plumbing courses', and he bought a new van on finance. I was actually a bit 'spooked' by him as he seemed to be doing OK and I was seeing his van in far too many places. He even asked for my help on...

    Your thoughts on this estimate...

Oh FFS...just drop a couple of suggestions in the shell like of any visiting engineer 1) ****2) ****..which is quite an unusual setup. Either can stop the boiler. There's at least an 80% chance thats all it is. It was never the fan if a new one didn't fix it. Have I given away state...

why is an expensive bath better?

Go for a Caronite one as suggested earlier. You will not regret it. I did regret it as I put a Caronite one in my own house then sold the house. In my new house its a fairly new plastic jobby so too young to chuck away, and it does its job etc, but I genuinely miss the caronite one as it...
