Central Heating Plan for Large House

Great, thanks Are there any disadvantages (other than cost of install) to zone even further 2with rads (maybe zoned per room)?

Central Heating Plan for Large House

This is why I'd like to be armed with atleast a bit of knowledge of what a sensible solution might look like before I start getting people in

Central Heating Plan for Large House

Precisely the reason why I want to spend a few quid to make things as efficient as possible - hence the point of this thread in the first place... It's very much a long-term property that we're going to grow into

Central Heating Plan for Large House

It'll be just me, the Mrs and our 2yr old for now

Central Heating Plan for Large House

Would this be a 'cascade' system, with multiple boilers?

Central Heating Plan for Large House

Answering my own question, I expect that the underfloor would need its own manifold so it can be run at a lower temperature than the rads?

Central Heating Plan for Large House

That makes sense, thanks And generally, can we assume that moving to one big system should be more efficient to run than for separate standalone ones? Can rads and underfloor be mixed on the same manifold?

Central Heating Plan for Large House

Thanks all Plant room and boiler(s) aside, is the general concept of feeding each room from a couple of central manifolds with a room stat in each room sensible? Would it be sensible for rads to not have trv's if there's a stat in the room, or should they still have them anyway? Can rads and...

Central Heating Plan for Large House

Ok, thanks. I don't think we'll have quite the same hot water requirement but the rest of it probably isn't far off. There's already 54mm gas there. Do I need to be talking to a normal residential heating guy or is this something more commercial looking?

Central Heating Plan for Large House

Ok, maybe not 28 but I'm expecting it'll need bigger than 22 due to the size of boiler I need here. Expecting it'll to be up being >100kw judging by what's there already. Anyway, as I said, im not intending to do this myself - just trying to get a handle on a sensible solution to heating this...

Central Heating Plan for Large House

Hopefully, we'll be completing on a house in the next couple of months which I'm expecting will have an eye-watering gas bill. It's old (1600's), listed, and fairly big (8 beds and generally large rooms. lots of windows. Secondary but not double-glazed.) I've not had a chance to look into the...

Conversion of 'extension' with single skin brick wall

Hi We have a single storey, single skin brick built extension that was added a long time ago (well before we had anything to do with the property). It's effectively a bit of a corridor to incorporate the original outside sh1thouse into the main property. It's not used at the moment and a bit...

Suggestions for Cellar Floor (damp proofing)

It's not going to be too bad I think - I dont think it's going to be any major pressure now as the sump is now doing a pretty good job of draining the ground under the floor (there's holes drilled in the sides of the sump chamber). Ok, great. That's what I was leaning towards - so without...

Suggestions for Cellar Floor (damp proofing)

Exactly I suppose I'm asking what the best/easiest way to do a suitable membrane Sheeting, bitumen, epoxy, other?

Suggestions for Cellar Floor (damp proofing)

I would have loved to, but we dug a couple inspection pits and found that the foundations aren't really deep enough do anything worthwhile. It's mean underpinning all around which is beyond the realms of my DIY capabilities (and budget)

Suggestions for Cellar Floor (damp proofing)

It's going to be carpeted - just not sure what's best to put under (if anything)
