    hot water tank

Assuming you mean hot water cylinder: If it's heated by your boiler you may want to consider an Albion Superduty CF45 (45 Litre). http://albionwaterheaters.com/Superduty.html With a 30KW boiler (big than normal) it will recover from cold in 4 minutes or put another way: it will keep up...

Excellent. Thanks. I'll stick that link in my favourites. I don't do much repair work, mainly installs.

installing two indirect hot water cylinders

If you go for the fast recovery cylinder it is best to rewire the controls to Honeywell W Plan. So that the cylinder gets all the heat from the boiler when it needs it. This will speed recovery time (4 mins on smaller cylinder)

    Am I missing something??????

We have been led to believe that it is Building regs to fit TRV's in the 'sleeping areas'. As I understand it, by following best practice we are guaranteed to comply with the regs, but not all best practice (including the TRV's) is in the regs.

"Invite as many Plumbing companies as you can endure....." Thanks for that!! I really appreciate being one of ten companies to quote for a job. It's wasting my time and that of the customers. Three quotes is more than enough. To answer the original question: I suggest Vaillant ecoTEC...

    Valiant chb problem

It sound like the gas valve sticking. After it's been on it's seat for a while it sticks. Once it's been freed it will open and close OK until it is left for few hours, then it sticks again. Although it would be sparking if that were the case.

Draining a Direct Unvented Hot water Cylinder

I wouldn't install an unvented hot water cylinder and I'm a plumber and gas fitter. That's because I haven't got the ticket and wouldn't want to risk the thing exploding and possibly killing the occupants.

    Potterton Suprima 30

Does the boiler get a bit noisy before cutting out? If so it's pos the overheat stat tripping, pos due to poor circulation, pos due to defective pump or clogged pipework/heat exchanger.

Why do my compression joints keep leaking?!

FWIW: You shouldn't be using compression joints if you're going to bury them. Better to solder and wrap in denzo tape.
