    Now BS7671 says that 1-phase 3-wire is a 2-phase system

No. You're wrong. It's the number of LIVE conductors that are counted. The standard single phase installation has only ever been supplied by two live conductors and continues to be described as single-phase two wire system. You've been ticking the wrong box on your documents

Not quite... before the red seventeenth there was a brown sixteenth... he's on the one before that! Agreed. (See my original post!)

Periodic Inspection Reports and Employment Tribunal

Duh-er! That's why it is in your own interest to keep such documentation. It still doesn't make it a requirement. And no matter how many times you say something incorrect, it doesn't suddenly make it true.

Dingbat is an independent soul who owes no allegiance to the IET and has never attended a single one of their courses. He can, however, read and understand what many cannot.

And perhaps you should look up the difference between a certificate and a report. The appropriate 'certificate' is an Electrical Installation Certificate or a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate. The clue's in the name.

Also, to add to ebee's comments, it doesn't help when those both asking for and giving out advice don't understand the terminology they are using.

An interesting view, given that the NICEIC was never a trade body, rather a consumer protection organisation, prior to that role passing to the ESC. The NICEIC has never gone out to bat for its contractors. Ask a few.

Periodic Inspection Reports and Employment Tribunal

There is no requirement in law to produce any paperwork whatsoever. However there is a duty to maintain safe installations and if a risk of injury exists then an offence has been committed even if no actual injury is suffered. Without an identifiable risk, no offence has been committed...

Advice on the 17th Edition Electrical test please anyone..

There is no mandatory requirement to have any qualification to carry out electrical work in the UK. There is no 'expiry date' on the 2382 qualification. But, when the 18th does come out - the sixteenth lasted from 1991-2008 - there will be another regulations qualification (2383, possibly)...

    17th edition exam

Flameport is wrong, actually. In March 2008 C & G released a memorandum stating that annotations, highlights and tabs were all acceptable for this examination. If the centre takes it upon itself to impose rules not endorsed by C & G they may be in breach of their terms and conditions.

I wish. Considerably less than half that is more like it. And we give you five days, as opposed to the normal three or four with a free resit if you fail. What mugs we must be. I'm not absent because I'm spending, btw, I'm absent because I work unpaid on course prep, keeping up to date...

Does my kitchen need to be on a seperate ring?

Only you would consider a full plans submission the way to go for electrical work. Seriously. Only you. You would have to be mentally deficient.

Amazed? Have you had a read through some of your posts? You seem obsessed with continuing discussions way beyond their normal conclusions, mostly based on your distortions of the words used.
