Hi mate, it’s resolved today. I called tapworks a few days ago. They said parts are guaranteed for 7 years and they suspect it’s the transformer. They me me one for free which I managed to fit and bingo, all good and working. My main problem was getting access to fit it but got there in the end...

    Scantronic 9448+ with 9427 keypad

So effectively you are agreeing with my plan as the way to disable it but in case the alarm goes off, only way is then to climb up to the box, open it and rip the sounder out? sounds like I may have to attack the box Any tips when box is opened. Never seen the inside of one of these before...

    Scantronic 9448+ with 9427 keypad

Hi folks I have this alarm system and am thinking about turning it off completely. And I mean completely There is no dedicated switch on the main’s electric board for the alarm. If it had one, I guess it would be easy to switch alarm off and remove back up battery, I assume.? Hmm Now my...

Shower suddenly hot when downstairs toilet flushes

thank you. although this property was only build in 1999, the pipe layout isn't the best. i will have to use one of 2 options, it seems 1- reduce the flow on the downstairs toilet as advised above or 2- get a new shower with thermostatic control to regulate the water temperature for the...

Shower suddenly hot when downstairs toilet flushes

Thought about that actually. Only issue is there is no visible pipe to stick the valve on. Toilet is the type that sits flashed to the wall from floor so pipe must be hidden behind . I guess that’s an option if I have no other simple options. Remove toilet, add valve behind it and turn flow...

Shower suddenly hot when downstairs toilet flushes

Pipes are hidden behind wall. Plaster boards as you find in recent builds but will be major work and very costly if I start taking walls down. Hopefully there is a way without making it a ‘big job’ Thanks

Shower suddenly hot when downstairs toilet flushes

Yea unvented. No cold water tank. Previously had a cold water tank in loft but that was replaced with the unvented cylinder in airing cupboard just behind the en-suite bathroom actually. Thx

Shower suddenly hot when downstairs toilet flushes

Correct the supply pipes are buried as JohnD puts it. It will be a big and very costly job to change any pipes. Planning on renovating the bathroom next summer. May have to get some sort of thermostatic valve installed behind the new shower?

Shower suddenly hot when downstairs toilet flushes

Just posted a picture of shower. Thank you both. Yes issue is only when downstairs toilet flushes. Or as Hugh says, when water is drawn somewhere else but I think it’s mainly when downstairs toilet is flushed. Thanks
