What do you think of this internal roof work??

(My sister has paid this builder £10,000 so far btw) I prefer the responses from the other people :D I'm no builder but it's not standard practice to point in a mortar bed after the roofs actually on and tiled and isn't it best to actually have wall straps in place as well before anything...

What do you think of this internal roof work??

I told my sister to hold back some money until the building inspector had been and passed. The builder said he'd do the work to the Inspectors/bulidng regs if we paid him the money he was "owed". To make matter worse this builders actually built a two storey house down this road that was...

    Is part P working?

Part P is not working IMHO mainly due to the average punter knowing nothing about it. If the Government and the registering bodies want it to work then they should spend money on advertising to make people more aware of it.

    Electrical Certification

If you can open up one of the sockets safely then take a look to see if it has any rubber grommets where the cable enters the back box, check to see if there's earth sleeviing and if the face plates are metal see if they've been earthed. I'd be surprised if the certificate you get is worth the...

8.5 kw shower fuse and cable size

http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/CA10G.html Forgive me but I don't see the point in running 6mm instead of 10mm given that it's such a short run how much saving will it really make -a couple of pints of beer?

Wiring up extractor fan without double pole FCU?

Two lives - one permanent fed from a three pole switch/fcu is the norm otherwise the timer will only work with the pull cord which makes it pointless

Can you post a photo of it and what colour is the insulation on the conductors

    Outside circuits

can you tell us what size conductor the cable has before proceeding, it sounds like an SWA http://wiki.diyfaq.org.uk/index.php?title=Terminating_SWA which is buried to a suitable depth (at least ten inches with electrical warning tape above) rather than place in a conduit.

Wiring up extractor fan without double pole FCU?

why have two pull cords in the bathroom and why not have the timer starting with the light switch being pulled on, the switch would not be classed as an isolator especially given it should be switched live. A three pole will be required for the timer to operate.
