    Its perfectly fine to turn off your mains stoptap whilst running the heating. You could if you so wish, turn off mains open taps upstairs and down to drain off pipes. Happy hols :wink:

    Your system just needs balancing. As seco says, the water will flow through path of least resistance.

    You have low pressure in your system. The white needle in the first dial should be level with the red needle, when heating off and rads cold. Rising to 1.8 or 2 bar when heating hot. Top up via filling loop under the boiler.

    I used to do that job years ago during my twenties and early thirties. Steel erectors back in them days used to walk the iron. nothing so invigorating as walking 4" beams 500+ feet in the air, it becomes second nature, akin to you walking on the pavement 8) :wink:
