    Rogue Traders

Agreed, non notifiable. What exactly makes this guy an expert anyway? £60 could possibly be acceptable for the socket alone. But installing an outside light where no existing wiring is in place can't surely be done fron scratch for this money???

Does Anyone Know What This Is?

It'll be an over current device and in no way will it be an RCBO or any other leakage gear. The word trip on these is very common, installed all over one of my key client sites. I have seen a lot of electricians get confused thinking the word trip automatically means RCD RCBO etc. When the...

    BBC Rogue Traders

I charged a guy £958.00 to change his consumer unit at home last week, and this morning changed one for £210.00. Both jobs were to satisfy with BS7671 and both were priced with the same pricing structure. There are many variables to be considered that are not illustrated enough to our clients.

    2 way wiring without 3core+earth

There should be no reason for objection. As long as the CPC's are connected and you wire it correctly. (s)he will probably comment on it, as it isn't really done this way anymore. However if I was in your situation I would do exactly this.

    2 way wiring without 3core+earth

He's described it in a different wiring method. Breaking it down, you are currently considering wiring 2 x 1.5mm T&CPC cables from switch to switch. Adding to this the existing Line and Switchline you already have, at one switch you will end up with 3 x T&CPC's and one of the switch's. The...

First NIC inspection (electrical domestic installer)

As RF has pointed out, if you cant find the electrode then install a new one. How else can you test the ze and assure connections are satisfactory throughout?

    Periodic Inspection Report

Could it not be deemed possible to consider that a ring does not apply in this way. In that it is a returning cable and so the two runs from the mcb are not electrically seperated when disconnected?

    Periodic Inspection Report

I have. But I think I disagree. To me, your opinion makes 314.4 obsolete? Does it not?

    Periodic Inspection Report

So if I combine 2 existing final circuits onto 1 mcb, I am creating 1 circuit and the circuit(s) wont need to be electrically seperated as 314.4 suggests?
