    Are Corgi trying to kill...

Yep it's a big con under the guise of improved safety, but everyone in the gas industry can see it's just corgi doing a scam. The reason the installers are angry is they get to be the tax collector in the scam. It would be nice if some investigative jounalist done a piece on it as it will not...

    Bathroom light switch

I have a light switch in my bathroom, within 2 feet of the bath, does anyone know if there is a reasonable (i don't want it to look industrial) waterproof switch or suitably IP rated one I could replace it with....or maybe a clear membrane I could fit over the switch to make it safe but useable?

    Gas Fires for Back boiler

New firefronts are still available from Baxi, some of them are ok, coals and logs behind glass....... but you will still be limited to the outset type. As far as I am aware no one else does replacement fires for their back boilers so if it's not a Baxi some bullet biting may be required.

    vokera option

possibly it has never been installed correctly, the flue is supposed to drop approx. 1 degree to the outlet, if it is level or sloping the other way it is very possible for water to find it's way into the boiler.

    Unearthed lighting circuits

There are many pre-1970 lighting circuits without earths. Is there anything that can be done to minimise the danger from them. EG plastic wall switches (instead of polished steel or brass). I gather RCDs are frowned upon for lighting circuits? How would they be reported on a periodic...

Cost to get a gas hob plugged in.

Adam, A CORGI gasfitter will not connect your hob by flexible hose to a bayonet connector. It has to be connected in pipe all the way and must have an isolating valve fitted. Properly done the gas pipework should also be checked to ensure it will supply the necessary flow of gas at the...

    Breeched boiler regulations?

It may be easier and cheaper to fit a 30mA earth leakge breaker and leave it without a cupboard. If you do build a cupboard I think it has to be openable only with tools, eg a spanner or screwdriver

    RCD and shower

Someone in a forum (not particularly electrical) recently said that an RCD was mandatory if you have an electrical shower. I understand it is desireable and sensible but was not aware it was mandatory. Does this mean everyone with an electric shower needs to get it RCD protected? Would it...

    vokera linea 24 display problem

A common problem with these was the (rotary) knob breaking, it often feels as if it is still doing something, but there are no reactions to it. Hope this is your problem.....boards are pricey

Worcester 28 Combi - No HW, CH ok

It may be the Domestic Hot Water (DHW) sensor, located behind the water to water heat exchanger. It's a flow switch which tells the boiler you have turned the tap on, it should illuminate the DHW demand indicator first.
