Could this be a thermocouple problem?

Make sure after relighting pilot that the knob comes all the way back.Sometimes they stick. You get all the "clicks "but the boiler doesn`t fire. If ok then possibly faulty dhw limit stat top rhs of heat excahnger. Paul :)

Definitely copper mites. Little bastards love eating through brass olives and the like. They`re green and normally congregate around bottom of rad valves and stuffing glands on gate valves. Didn`t realise they liked gas as well. Paul

    Plumbers & getting a quote/price

If you gave a proffesional quote and charged for it-say £100 as Agile put it-wouldn`t this mean you had to do less work to earn the same income. That £100 would be refundable if you got the job. Win- win situation for both parties. Would never give a quote for nothing and as for quoting for a...

    bg hitting its engineers.

You would be seen as a competitor of bg`s if you did work in your own time even if you used your own car, tools etc. What company in their right mind would employ a competitor? Seems commonsense approach by bg if you ask me . paul

Very High Gas Bill - Using a Baxi Boiler

Don`t be surprised if they offer you a new boiler.Parts no longer available etc. My opinion as a landlord and an RGI is rip it out and get new system fitted. You will never have to worry about tenants getting CO poisoning and you will be able to claim your expediture against your tax bill...
