Appliance in same understairs cupboard as gas meter?

Hello, I need to de-clutter our smaill London house and was thinking to replace the current freezer (which takes up living room space) with a small chest freezer and install it under the stairs with the gas meter and house electrical fuse box etc. The front of this storage area is covered by a...

15YO boiler condemned as flue too long??? Please advise?

I agree, but this was said by an independent. Others may say different? I'm not making a point in that regard, just that I'm happy with what I have and will stick with it. It's a simple boiler to repair, in most cases without massive expense, so why not?

15YO boiler condemned as flue too long??? Please advise?

I agree! Why Should I exchange a working boiler for a new condensing one that probably won't provide much more efficiency without changing the entire radiator system? If I can get out of this contract, I will pay an independent to do a thorough safety inspection. Forget the insurance! I've...

15YO boiler condemned as flue too long??? Please advise?

It fits snuggly around the inner exaust pipe. I also added a very thin layer of silicone, but was going to do some research on the heat/steam tolerance. I think originally it was held in place by concrete. The entire installation looks a bit cowboyish to me. It happend when the property was...

15YO boiler condemned as flue too long??? Please advise?

Hi, I checked the flue terminal this morning and found that it had fallen behind the garden shed. I have now re-attached: I'll also order and install a terminal guard and repair the rendering around the flue. With the terminal problem sorted, should I go back to the company and ask...

Many thanks, I wanted some advice before contacting the company. Also, on the service record the 30 point check list hasn't been filled out. Could this indicate he didn't do a service.?? Cheers

15YO boiler condemned as flue too long??? Please advise?

Hello, After fixing my Glowworm Swiftflow 75E I decided to get some insurance including a service and safety check. So I did some investigation on the Internet and went for a deal with my current provider’s policy. During the service I briefly spoke to the engineer on the phone, who said...

Pump runs for a while then sudden loss of Vs. Faulty PCB?

I replaced the PCB and boiler is now working fine. One of the switches on the old board has black soot on the transparent cover and it was sparking just before the pump cut out. It also rattles when I shake the board.

Pump runs for a while then sudden loss of Vs. Faulty PCB?

Faulty thermostat / sensor? Is the pump regulated or permanently on whilst gas is fired up? The fault finder on the manual says no 230v to pump, replace PCB. I just wanted confirmation before spending £45. Cheers

Pump runs for a while then sudden loss of Vs. Faulty PCB?

My Glowworm Swiftflow 75E has been cutting out after a sudden rise in pressure of 1 Bar. It usually runs for a while before this happens, but the timing is intermittent. 230v AC is entering the pump during normal operation, but just before the rise in pressure the voltage cuts out. I’m...

    Expansion vessel questions?

Hello In the picture below, the rubber (bung like) in the opening of the vessel, is that part of the workings or does it need to be removed? I assume it stays. I pressed it with my finger and it is very firm. Also, can I install the vessal horizontal? And do they come factory...

    Problem with Glowworm combi boiler?

The expansion vessel arrived this morning so I will install it during the weekend. Will I need to isolate the faulty vessel? Occasionally the sudden rise in pressure / banging then shutdown doesn't happen. Instead the boiler keeps on running until the radiators get really hot then it just cuts...

    Problem with Glowworm combi boiler?

Also, after the shut down, if i turn on a hot tap, very hot water flows out without the boiler engaging. After about 20-30 seconds it does engage. This model doesn't have a diverter valve, instead it has a twin tube heat exchanger. Could there be a leak or faulty valve causing central heating...

    Problem with Glowworm combi boiler?

Thanks The pump sound like it's operating, could it possibly be a faulty PCB? I can purchase a PCB on ebay for about £60. I'm undecided whether to repair the boiler or replace.

    Problem with Glowworm combi boiler?

My Glowworm Swiftflow 75E requires a new expansion vessel. The existing vessel will not recharge and water comes out the valve. After 10 mins of the central heating being on there is a ticking sound and a sudden rise in pressure and shutdown with banging noises. I was thinking to install this 8...

Heating shuts down after 10-15 mins; Expansion Vessel?

Any ideas? There's a definite ticking sound before the sudden rise in pressure. This is back down to 10 minutes from cold. Cheers
