Snapped Bolt Thread in Cast Iron Housing

To wrap this up. Many thanks to all that have offered help - I'll try what I can from all the recommended ways to do this, over the weekend. You really would think this manufacture would use steel bolts/screws such as you'd find on say a car engine. Built to eventually fail I suppose! I...

Snapped Bolt Thread in Cast Iron Housing

Didn't work. Says image to big. I don't know if that means file size or photo size. I'll try reducing size first. PLEASE NOTE: I've had to reduce size. Couldn't find out what was required, so I've had to convert to .gif - not sure because it's gif that to view whole image you have to use side...

Snapped Bolt Thread in Cast Iron Housing

I'm back yet again, so late. I will not bore you again for being so late in getting back to you all, especially after the Consumer Unit nightmare. As you'll note, it's gone past 2.30am - my first chance to post a few images that have been requested. If any images seem to show the inside of...

Snapped Bolt Thread in Cast Iron Housing

Thanks for all response on this. I'm sorry I forgot to add this about the snapped off bolt. They both snapped off directly in line with the stove housing. Just a thought, if I use a very thin needle type drill or say a 3mm to remove the pressure on the centre, do you think this might release...

Snapped Bolt Thread in Cast Iron Housing

Hi, RE: Snapped Bolt Thread in Cast Iron Housing We have a multi fuel cast iron stove. It has a door with a window (as normal), and either side thin oblong windows. After three years of use, all the glass is in a bad way, and one has cracked in half. After removing the door so it could...

VERY HIGH Electric Bills - meter uses 800 imp/kWh - should it be 1000 imp/kWh

John, I've just fallen in with your last paragraph, *You can easily find out what is currently happening by comparing running the monitor for a day or three* I will use that method this weekend. Many thanks Stephen

VERY HIGH Electric Bills - meter uses 800 imp/kWh - should it be 1000 imp/kWh

flameport & JohnW2 - thanks for replying. John I forgot to mention that with this monitor, you have to enter everything in, standing charge, unit rate AND the impressions rate, so I did use 800.

VERY HIGH Electric Bills - meter uses 800 imp/kWh - should it be 1000 imp/kWh

Thanks charliegolf - reading up on imp - it does say that it is the amount of flashes of light that registers each kWh This unit I've brought also explains the use of the red light - 1,000 flashes = 1kWh

VERY HIGH Electric Bills - meter uses 800 imp/kWh - should it be 1000 imp/kWh

Hi A number of years ago EDF changed our electric meter. Following that, we started to receive higher bills that we were not used to. They sent out an engineer who rigged up another meter - so both run in tandem. for around 2 weeks. Result: both meters matched. So there was nothing wrong with...

    Problem with Earth Bond

Okay guys - you've convinced me - I will contact a sparky on Tuesday. Thank you all for your time explaining in detail why I wouldn't have a clue to Do It Myself. That on this occasion is truly DIY . . . NOT!

    Problem with Earth Bond

Hi A few days ago we had a Dyson engineer come to fix the vacuum cleaner. The same guy has been fixing the washing machine and vacuum here for years. I wasn’t at home, but after he had fixed it, he tested the electrics by putting a tester in a regular socket. He told my wife that the...

Can I remove this regular type Kitchen Vent?

Hi Property built around 1976. It is built on a 9 inch concrete raft (because of type of land it was built on). We have been here 12 years. Every winter we have the same problem, the kitchen gets very cold. Just above the DPM on the kitchen wall is a regular plastic vent. The is where the...

    Ridge Tile help

Hi One Redland "half round ridge tile" on a gable garage has been blown down (it's the first one - the others look okay). And a number of same style ridge tiles on some of the 'hips' on the property have come loose and fallen down resting on the Roman interlocking tiles. On the hips where...

MAXIMUM HEIGHT FOR FENCING ON PRIVATE ROAD?

:) Thanks to everyone who replied. As I would like 1.5m adjacent to the lane I'll have to contact the council. But it's good to know that the party fence can be 1.75m.

MAXIMUM HEIGHT FOR FENCING ON PRIVATE ROAD?

:? Hi What is the maximum height of a timber fence between two detached properties? Presumably this is classed as a Party Fence inasmuch as the fence is between two front gardens. The properties are not on a public highway - in fact the road is deemed Private, and is a No Through lane...

PREVIOUS PROBLEM WITH MOLD - "PVA" PLASTERBOARD?

:? Hi Before I ask my question I need to explain what happened previously. Exactly a year ago while I was in hospital for major surgery my wife and daughter had my ensuite completely ripped out, because they were worried that my wound would get infected. This is because my ensuite...

WHAT IS CLASSED AS AN OUTBUILDING?

:( Hi Just a quick question. On the 27 October 2013 we had a burglary from the garage. Around £7,000 of equipment (mainly Makita tools) were taken. Due to major surgery just a week after the burglary and the life altering affects of the surgery, plus lots of other problems, I am...
