Does reducing the water pipe diameter increase pressure?

GasBod wrote:- By having your thumb over the end of the hose you are increasing dynamic pressure by restricting flow. But you haven’t created any NEW pressure. You have simply traded reduced flow for increased pressure So does this mean that following the same theory, that if you branch off a...

Does reducing the water pipe diameter increase pressure?

Firstly, I do understand that we can't increase the dynamic (working) pressure from the incoming main without introducing a pump or increasing the main pipe itself. The reason I ask is because I keep thinking of the hose pipe scenario where if you pressurise the end with your finger you then...

Is there any maintenance on fans?

So I can use WD 40 then although this seems only to be a short term measure. Whats the difference between the special fan lubricant and the WD 40 then? :?

Is there any maintenance on fans?

When the fan on your boiler starts to seize (ie, still spins but is getting quite stiff.) do you have to replace the fan or can you lubricate and carry on with the existing one.

ideal classic 40ff whistling when running?

gas 4 you, when you say over gassed do you mean incorrect burner pressure or is it a faulty part like the gas valve or the injector? If the injector is the problem why do they wear or is it that they were too big from day 1. gas 2 air, the case seals are all in good condition and seem to be...

Thanks for quick reply, will look into those. So you can just treat the rest of the heating system as if you were connecting a gas boiler then? Thanks. :D

    Electric Boiler Installation??

Can anyone advise me on a couple of things to do with an electric boiler. Firstly, which are the best makes (reliability, parts availibility, etc.) Secondly, when connecting to the heating system, are they able to run on say a Y plan system or is it somthing different. Last, I assume...

WHY DOES MY CH HEADER TANK KEEP FILLING????

So you do admit that you had nothing constructive to say then? I do agree that by not actually having your own theory leaves you blameless. I personally, would rather give my theory, possibly be wrong and learn from it as opposed to just sitting in the corner and waiting for things to go...

WHY DOES MY CH HEADER TANK KEEP FILLING????

Are you still bangin on about the same thing softus? Firstly, I didn't realise there was a time limit for my "diagnosis". Secondly, I didn't know that you were in charge of implementing these rules. Thirdly, as I have to work and also have a social life I can't just keep rushing back to...

    open vented new boiler approval

Seems like the engineer is getting his condensate confused with his pressure relief valve as the open vented boiler doesn't have a PRV. Seems strange that he should mention the noise of the pump.

WHY DOES MY CH HEADER TANK KEEP FILLING????

Softus, Choices 1. As regards how the system works, yes I speak to people on this forum as two or more heads are always better than one. 2. Guidence given on this topic from seco services, steve and a few others was all taken on board to investigate further. As I said, two heads are...

WHY DOES MY CH HEADER TANK KEEP FILLING????

Softus. I am not deluded, I just refuse to change a cylinder when it might not actually be needed. I appreciate all of the comments from everyone apart from yourself, as they are constructive as opposed to yours which just seem to show a lack of understanding in this area.

WHY DOES MY CH HEADER TANK KEEP FILLING????

With the boiler running (HTG or HW) the tank fills. When you stop the boiler, it stops filling. The pump is on the slowest speed, system isn't that big. I do appreciate all of your help, in case I didn't say it before. Will do some more investigating and get back to you. :D

WHY DOES MY CH HEADER TANK KEEP FILLING????

Seco services The water has stopped and the gate valve to the cylinder is still open. The water in the tank is a bit dirty but nothing abnormal. Steve The system is installed correct and been working fine for years. I know you hear it alot but I bulls**t you not.
