    Oak stairs, Osmo

I've bought 3062 and after doing a test piece, (a spare spindle), a great success by using a microfibre cloth for applying and removing excess, they are really good for getting into the corners of the spindle/handrail and to be honest I hardly used any, it would seem that a 750ml tin will last...

    Oak stairs, Osmo

Good evening all, I am having replacement stair newel posts, handrail and spindles in oak fitted and have been getting conflicting suggestions on what Osmo oil to use, we want a matt finish and keep the wood light but there seems to be so different types, so far I think we've narrowed it down to...

Good afternoon everyone, Is there any extra security measures I can add, such as sliding bars to our composite front door, it doesn't fit flush like our old wooden door and the "sliding bar", that's the only way I can think to describe it, won't fit and too be honest I wouldn't be sure of...

    Block Paving , re-sanding base

Good afternoon all, Our drive was block paved approx 10 yrs ago and the company who did it really did do a great job, but ants having been slowly pushing the sand out in one corner and the blocks, approx 8 off have started to sink, they've dropped approx 20mm. I have a spare bag of sand and...

    Sliding Doors

Thanks Notch7 for the info, but if the cost is going to be similar to the quotes we've had, I think we will have to look at alternatives to sliding doors, so the search is still on. regards Chris

    Sliding Doors

Evening everyone, I would like to fit sliding doors across the middle of a room to divide off the utility part using a triple track and 3 doors. The room is 2.4m across and 2.4m high. I would like to use full height doors. The costs from suppliers range from £1500-£2200 which is unrealistic. Has...

    2.3m Deep Foundations alternatives

I may be too late but don't get skips, if possible buy 6 sheets of 18mm OSB, put them out the front and chuck the excavation soil on them, then get a grab lorry to pick up, they can be the equivalent of 4-5 skips @ £120 a skip and I got a grab lorry for £210. regards Chris

    Under floor heating or not

Thanks Rabmac1 for the advice, I really don't know anything, I assumed that the floor would be laid on those green soft panels and that's why I was unsure of under floor heating. I will check out the Quick-step brand. thanks again. Chris

Hi All, We are about to have an extension built, single storey, 3m x 8m on the back of the house, it will have a block + beam floor with insulation and screed but we can't decide whether to go with more rads or electric under floor heating. The boiler is a 3yr old Worcester Bosch. The floor...

    Vibrating Pipes

Hi All, In the last month every time we fill the bath within a couple of minutes the pipes in the loft start to vibrate and make a din. The cold pipe to the bath is also connected to the tank and when this is turned on the vibration starts again. The ballcock seems to be functioning OK. If I...
