Wifi / wireless TRVs as part of a boiler upgrade

Would anyone be able to offer advice as to which Wifi wireless TRVs to chose (or shortlist) and just as important, any to avoid. We're upgrading our (combi) boilers shortly and would like to add room to room temperature control from a central control panel, a tablet in the house or a smart...

    Worcester 350 question

Back on the thread due to a year of inactivity on the replacements, with other priorities, the old 350s struggling on. is the situation we have at present with the boilers high up above the window. I have 960mm from ceiling down to the top of the pipe boxing in and about 1070mm to be within...

What is best for replacement timber sash and case windows

We're in a conservation area and about to fit replacement timber (redwood pine) sash and case windows. One of the window companies offers traditional linseed oil paint as an alternative finish and another offers paints from the Butinox range. Both can offer regular micro porous paint. With the...

    Worcester 350 question

I've had a look at the Intergas website and I now have two more questions for the experts - sorry. One of my boilers runs the upstairs and the DHW and CH supply and return go up behind the boiler into a finished bathroom directly upstairs so changing that aspect of the pipework is troublesome...

    Worcester 350 question

We have enjoyed the simplicity of the combi, Razor, over the past 20 years. Provides a good shower through a Mira Excel in the bathrooms and is quick enough to fill the (acrylic) bath. We did remove a 90l tank from a structural cupboard in the upper third of the utility room but I had my eye on...

    Worcester 350 question

Thank you Dan. They have been less than perfect over the years and at least with two we've always had heating and hot water somewhere. I'll have a look at the Intergas website

    Worcester 350 question

I have two elderly Worcester 350 wall mounted combis, side by side, in the bit of a Victorian house, in which we live, one for each floor. I think it's coming up to time to replace them. My question is whether the current equivalent uses the same piping jig and flue spacing or am I facing...

    Fan assisted convectors

My receptionists often feel cold, especially on busy days when the front door is open and closed a lot. At the moment they're using a small electric blower below the desk but that's an expensive way of heating when the rest of our CH and DHW is served by a biomass boiler on the RHI deal. I have...

Can someone help me with compliance for a wet table.

My understanding of the rules for sink, bath or basin spillover is that any connected overflows are disregarded and it is the height that water would spill over onto the floor that is the basis of the starting point for the air gap. However I do concede that I'm a vet and not a plumber!

Can someone help me with compliance for a wet table.

Thank you to everyone so far. Before I put this idea to the inspector who visited do folks here think it would be reasonable to fabricate a letterbox like slot through the end of the table and cabinet so that any build up of water would spill over at a depth of about 15mm meaning the grill would...

Can someone help me with compliance for a wet table.

I made two of these wet tables for my vet surgery. They serve as a normal work surface with the lid down and when raised we have a grill and a shallow sink, with just a strainer, not a plug in the waste so at most the surface is wet, never full of water. On each we have a thermostatic shower to...

Commercial vs Domestic Washing machines and Dishwashers

In the end the inspector was happy that I had fitted a 3/4" WRAS approved check valve designed to go between the isolator and the flexible hose. However he didn't like the wet tables and I would be grateful of some ideas for them. I'll start a new thread for those. Thank you to everyone who gave...

Commercial vs Domestic Washing machines and Dishwashers

Thank you, Oswain, we actually only need 30-40 degrees as we use bio detergent and a modest cycle. Anything that needs to be sterile gets steam autoclaved at 2 bar / 134 degrees after washing Hello Tony, I do like the thought of dirty dogs lying in a Jacuzzi, perhaps sipping a cocktail and...

Commercial vs Domestic Washing machines and Dishwashers

Thank you for your replies so far. I'm a vet and the dishwasher is in a staffroom and runs once every two or three days for mugs and lunch cutlery and plates. The two washing machines do one or two cycles each per day. Overall I wouldn't have thought it more than a decent family home. We have...

Commercial vs Domestic Washing machines and Dishwashers

Is there someone on the forum that can give me an insight into what are the differences between commercial and domestic machines. I appreciate the increased durability of the commercial machine and perhaps more robust controls for an uncaring environment. We have WRAS approved check valves...

    tap fitting problems

You could put a 1/2" female to 15mm straight compression coupler on the end of your flexible connectors with ptfe tape or washer and then a short piece of 15mm pipe. That'll fit into your isolation valves. Minimal cost and nothing wasted. There could be a more elegant solution from one of the...

    Can someone recommend a pump

The picture shows the pump on my biomass installation. It circulates the 75C water/antifreeze mix from the boiler house buffer tank and the indoor tank in tank that does my heating and hot water. After 2.5 years I think this pump is failing. I can feel vibration in adjacent pipes and the flow...

Best type of heating/hot water for a new install

We have an ACV 400L SLME which has been reliable with quick recovery from large DHW draws and has a 11kw solar coil. They make a 300L too. 19 months ago we swapped to biomass with a Herz Pelletstar 30 and it's been totally reliable but does need the space for a fuel store and in our case we...
