    Paint Recommendation for Wooden Window

I'm personally loving Johnstone's Trade oil based gloss and appropriate undercoat. I'm not a decorator by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm getting excellent results. It's takes a while to go off, which for me is brilliant as I can go back and address my shoddy painting technique :D

Replacement for 9V power from Sky RF2

The other simpler alternative is to forget connecting an aerial to your main TV. You're getting Sky Q fitted, so the installer should be joining that up with a new HDMI cable. One of these in conjunction will work, just wire it up right. K M Electronics® 2 Way TV Aerial Splitter Virgin...

    Fault Finding Conundrum

Grrrr.... Talk about frustrating. Checked every appliance yesterday. Plugged everything in, turned on the shower, 3 vacuum cleaners and the oven. RCD didn't activate. So I'm no further forward. The only event that I can think of, we were looking after my brother in law's dog last week, and he...

    Fault Finding Conundrum

So the upshot is... The fault is most likely on CU1, but a load being applied on CU2 would be enough to trigger the RCD? Presumably I would be able to test sockets with a simple socket tester from Screwfix once I've discounted appliances?

    Fault Finding Conundrum

Thankfully it's not the shower, with that isolated the fault still occurs. I'm going to have to get everything unplugged tomorrow and use a bit of time testing.

    Fault Finding Conundrum

I have two consumer units, each with their own RCD.

    Fault Finding Conundrum

The house itself used to be a Residential Home, and was tested annually, the armoured extension to the second CU was installed then as part of an extension build. The only changes since it was domesticated is the RCD has been changed to discount a faulty RCD and a new boiler installed...

To follow on... Thank you for your replies so far, it is becoming a lot clearer.

    Fault Finding Conundrum

Same behaviour means... CU1 trips regardless of whether the additional load is applied on CU1 or CU2.

    Fault Finding Conundrum

The schematic I attached on my first post shows it diagrammatically. As far as I'm aware, all individual circuits are protected by one of the CUs. I'm not aware of any circuit that's not fed via an RCD. The feeds are shared before the CUs, and split near the meter. Hope the picture helps...

    Fault Finding Conundrum

Thanks John, I have been doing that to appliances. The thing that is confusing me, is the ability of the trip to cross from one consumer unit to the other. Consumer 2 never trips, also the RCD in consumer 1 is new and exhibiting that same behaviour.

    Fault Finding Conundrum

So the last couple of days we've been having random tripping RCD. Before getting an electrician in, I'm trying to establish at least a cause, to save both time and money. I've been trying to isolate appliances, but there doesn't appear to be anything specific causing it. Turn the vacuum on...

I hate asking the question, but here goes... it's about SIZE

Sorry, I didn't include everything in the spec. Was going to install a 12 litre expansion vessel. Would you suggest that would be sufficient? Hadn't considered a low loss header to be fair.

    Shaver Socket Alternative

Which is oddly enough exactly whast it's going to be connected to, or at the very least replace. If I get really desperate, I could get a white one, take the leccy gubbins off the back and spray paint it and finish off with a nice satin laquer clear coat. It's going on a dark brown wall...

I hate asking the question, but here goes... it's about SIZE

Well, we decided to go Thermal Store with Biomass... Nah, just kidding. I'd like to say the final outcome is all mine. But the wife's attitude towards a tank system has swayed it, and the fact that we know how our lifestyle works with a combi (we've had one for years, so it's not like we...

    Furnox TF1 or SpiroTrap MB3

The system is currently empty (there's another thread on here about the system itself) so it'll need flushing anyways. I was told the water that came out "wasn't that bad", but that is hardly descriptive. Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of being able to run the system for a month prior...

    Furnox TF1 or SpiroTrap MB3

One of the advertising features for the MB3 is the lack of a need for stop taps (which are obviously fitted on the TF1). I'm presuming it's a full drain to purge and dose with cleaner as opposed to the TF1? I do like the robust nature of the MB3, but if the TF1 is more efficient, I'd...

    Shaver Socket Alternative

Cheers for the replies. OwainDIYer they're not plugs, they're transformers, else I'd have replaced the plugs at purchase. The search continues, I know they must be available in the UK as I've seen them in hotel grid setups on the desk.
