    Retro fitting kitchen island power

No. Not a solid floor. It's joists, floorboards, then underlay then laminate. Cheers

    Retro fitting kitchen island power

Ok. Thanks for the suggestion. Definitely something to consider. Out of interest, is this something much easier to do than coming up through the floor?

    Retro fitting kitchen island power

Thanks for replying. In terms of the extension cable I meant literally plug in an extension cable to a wall socket in the island, then take up some of the laminate flooring, cut through the underlay to create a channel for the power cord, then bring the extension cable into the island and fix...

Ok. Thanks for that. It's years and years since I've posted on here, so not familiar with the layout. Cheers

    Retro fitting kitchen island power

Morning all I'm after some advice on the best way to go with this. Sadly, when we had a big extension and kitchen fitted a few years ago, I didn't get power sockets fitted into the island. Big mistake! I'm now trying to see how easy/hard it would be to retrofit power to the island. I briefly...

If it's as simple as letting it dry, and then peeling it off, just let me know before it dries too much! Thanks

How do I get this bl**dy sealant off?!?!

Guys I've had a shocker and forgotten to put masking tape down in one area prior to filling the gap between the last wall tile and the laminate floor. Needless to say, there's smearings of bloody sealant everywhere. Any ideas on how I can get it off? To make it worse, the laminate...

    Alarm gone pear shaped...

To be honest, we've never had the proper code since we moved into the house. A guy serviced it for us, shortly after we moved in, and left us with an engineer's code. He said he'd get back to us with a proper code. Anyway, the company went bust a few weeks later and that was the end of that...

    Alarm gone pear shaped...

Whilst on holiday, the person looking after our pets has done something to our alarm system. I set it as normal, earlier today. However, when I came back, the timer 'beeps' were still going and it hadn't set. As soon as I came in the house, the alarm engaged. Our usual code doesn't do a...

    Securing a bath in place

Thanks for your replies. I've pretty much done what has been suggested. But will maybe reinforce it some more. Bath is acrylic, floor boards are marine Weyroc. Thanks again

    Securing a bath in place

Ive recently fitted a bath. Does anybody have any advice as to how to make sure it stays as secure as possible? I thought we'd done quite a good job. But, when the bath's full, it sinks slightly Thanks

    Tile on tile question, again!

I'm refitting my bathroom, with the help of a builder. Tomorrow, we're due to start the tiling. I'm using a Travertine tile, 600m in length. We are planning to tile on top of the existing tiles. I have checked, and the existing tiles are very firmly in place, and the majority of the wall...

Can you turn pine into oak..?

I apologise if this is a buffoon like question! Looking at changing our interior doors from brilliant white, to an oak like effect. I've noticed some oak doors are around the £100 mark. But, the solid pine ones seem to be around £35. Can the pine ones be made to look more like oak with a good...

Why are my smoke alarms going off???

Thanks for the reply. In order: - Thankfully no fire! Chloride Barbic Not sure if they're interlinked. If they are, it'll be by wire. Not sure how old. We're here already and we've been in for nearly five years. Yes, window was open wide actually. The wife mentioned that. There was...

Why are my smoke alarms going off???

Morning all We have two wired smoke alarm in our house, both with battery back up. In the early hours of this morning, they were both going off randomly. We've had battery problems in the past, and this is usually evident when you get the solitary beep evey few minutes or so. But this...

    Keeping post anchors straight

All I'm really struggling with this. I take on board all of your points. Without boring you all to death the fence is the way to go. However, I'm never going to do this if I can't get these bl%%dy things in straight. Anyone got any tips? Please!!!

Thanks guys. All points noted and I get your drift. Removable fence is the way to go, though. Will persevere!
