Temperature gauge problem 2009 Peugeot 207

The thermostat I fitted is new, and it comes with a new sensor. There is a bleed valve in the thermostat and I have checked this a couple of times, and it's not got air in it. There is also a bleed valve on the heater matrix pipe - checked and bled. The thermostat allows water into the top...

Temperature gauge problem 2009 Peugeot 207

Ok, so an update. I got a new thermostat, like the one in the video J2007 linked to. I watched an Autodoc video on it, and got stuck in... It went quite smoothly till trying to pull off the last connection, which took over an hour! I then managed to drop the 3/4 spring clip while putting in the...

Temperature gauge problem 2009 Peugeot 207

Thanks for the replies. The heater does blow hot air, although I'm not sure it's as hot as it should be. I think the symptoms I'm getting are indicating a "stuck open" thermostat. So when driving, the radiator is keeping the water too cool to register on the gauge, but warm enough for the heater...

Temperature gauge problem 2009 Peugeot 207

Hi All, Looking for some advice re the above. It's my daughters car, and she noticed that the temp gauge was not registering. At some point she fiddled with the wires and noticed that the needle began to move. I have had a look into it. At first I noticed the connector onto the sensor was...

    Oil fired central heating issue

In my set up it's just next to the pump in the airing cupboard. It's a Drayton ZA5 (i think). Its the motorized valve that directs the hot water from the pump either into the radiators or into the heating coil in the hot water tank.

    Oil fired central heating issue

I also have oil heating, and have had a similar issue in the past - hot water working, but when it changes to heating, although the light on the control unit shows the heating is on, nothing is happening. I think in my case it's a microswitch in the valve, not quite connecting/disconnecting when...

    Confused by shower electrics

Thanks all, comments appreciated and noted. Thanks Adam for your analysis. Below photo of ceiling switch. So.. since I can't see the owner being keen on calling in an electrician and tiler to update the wiring, have I made anything worse or more potentially dangerous by leaving the black wire...

    Confused by shower electrics

Thanks for the thoughts. Yes I'm out of my depth but I hoped this would be fairly basic for some so I could get a clearer understanding of how this works and if that single black wire goes live at all when the extractor is on. Here are some photos, but as I said the black wires disappear under...

    Confused by shower electrics

Well I could probably fit the exposed wires into some conduit. The question is really about the black wire that used to be connected to the old shower element and whether it becomes live when the extractor is on. I don't know much about relays, and I can't be sure about where the wires I've put...

    Confused by shower electrics

I visited a relative last year and noticed the electric shower was leaking. I bought a new one, but when I went to fit it realised there was a relay involved, to start/keep the extractor running once the shower was on/off. There was a single black wire connected to one of the heating elements in...

    WSM builder

Is it ok to ask for recommendations for a good general builder in Weston Super Mare on this forum please? The work relates to potential ground floor dry rot remedial works. Thanks.

    Mould

To me it actually all looks ok. Some damp/mould on the interior side of a cold outside wall (esp if there's no cavity) is fairly normal (condensation), and can lead to the bubbling plaster effect you are seeing. Any closed cupboard or unventilated space will suffer similarly. The underfloor...

    Concrete porch roof advice.

How long has this been happening? What state is the concrete porch roof in? What about the join between the roof and the walls? If the concrete is breaking up then it could be leaking so would probably need some sort of covering.

    Concrete porch roof advice.

Well some more photos might help. It could just be condensation from the cold porch roof concrete that's getting into the plaster.

    Concrete porch roof advice.

Is the underside of the porch wet just outside the door frame? How did you re-seal the poorly fitted front door?

    Shed insulation mistake...

Yes any form of vapour barrier will stop the moisture getting through. Yes you should have put up the vapour barrier before your 9mm OSB. Stapling polythene to the inside would work, but it wouldn't look pretty. The insulation above should start to dry out, but won't be very effective until it does.

    Advice for dormer window leak.

I wonder if there's a possibility water's getting in at the top of the dormer , and running down the felt under the tiles till near the bottom of the dormer side where there could be cuts/overlaps for it to seep through.
