    in our area they are usually on the job within 48 hours if requested by an RGI if you are not an RGI am not sure if they will come out under warranty and if they do be prepared for them to point out all faults (if any) within the installation.

    If you think the boiler is faulty contact the manufacturer they come with a standard 3 year warranty and if the installer have been on the course it is 5 years.

    Swiftflow 80 has the fan running permanently at low speed and a permanent pilot, when the boiler has a demand the fan speed increases to give the correct air flow, if the fan fails or does not go to full speed the boiler goes out due to a vitiated flame causing the boiler to effectivley snuff...

    Cost of part then no more than an hours labour Although I can not speak for other RGI's I would always want to attend to diagnose the fault myself first.

    The RGI also has to pay extra to CORGI to download the GWN, not all RGI's pay the extra I for one do not as I do not do any installs. I had to send CORGI a letter to confirm this.

    You can not legally change the stat yourself as it is a safety device you need an RGI.

    In our area the inspector wants to see a minimum of 25 jobs. As long as the RGI has been on site teaching you on all of the gas aspects of the jobs you have not broken the law. If however he has just turned up at the end of the job you have been working unsupervised.

    If your fire has an atmosphere sensing device it could be fumes causing the gas fire to turn off. As somebody else has said get it checked out by an RGI

    I think you have answered your own question, to work on part of a boiler carrying gas or safety related parts you need technically to be competent.

    You will need to get a CORGI in to check the boiler over, could be a number of things from a dirty pilot to a sooted up boiler.

    We actually still use the medium pressure on reassessment. It's not as bad as it was.... Don't forget depending on which certification body you use there may be a section on CO detectors.

    The use of the controls rig is not mandatory our centre get you to test all the controls (Except the zero governor and flame rec) on the appliances you find them on. We feel it is less daunting and more realistic of what you will find in the real world.
