    Wireless thermostat query

Thanks Marty! I have a Worcester boiler (new a couple of years ago) and doesn't really have a heat setting, just a dial which is similar to a volume knob for water and heating? I've had both of these set to the 12 o'clock setting (pointing straight up)?

    Wireless thermostat query

Thanks yet again for your help :D My house is an 80's bungalow so not the best insulated! My other thinking regarding the constant temperature is we have a bit of condensation in our bedroom, just in the top corner where there are 2 large external walls, a bit of black has formed there...

    Wireless thermostat query

Many thanks for your quick reply! My thinking with the new thermostat is to set the night temp to say 18 degrees and the morning (when we are in) to say 21 and then drop to 18 degrees throughout the day when no one is home, keeping a steady temp and allowing the boiler to click on and off for...

    Wireless thermostat query

Any of you knowledgeable guys on here know the answer to this? I've currently got a Honeywell DT92E wireless thermostat, but what with the price of oil nowadays I thought I would try getting a Honeywell CM927 so as to have timed temperatures in the house, keeping it at a constant temperature...

    Insulation between rafters needed?

My rafters aren't very thick and quite close together, I'll have to measure them and see what options I have I think. I don't think you can get thin rock wool, at a guess I'd say the rafter is between 70 and 100mm.

    Insulation between rafters needed?

Thanks again for the reply. I'm not too fussed about warmth, I'm just after the cheapest possible method to be honest :( So cheap and cheerful loft insulation placed inbetween the rafters is ok to do and then just screw hardboard/MDF/plasterboard over? No need for air gap etc?

    Insulation between rafters needed?

It's a foil type bubble roll, if you google rafter insulation the first video that pops up is a B&Q how to (sorry, on my iPhone and cannot link to it) I was originally thinking about stuffing some cheap rock wool in but then read about an air gap being needed? Just need some basic info on my...

    Insulation between rafters needed?

The roof was fitted a couple of weeks ago, it has a breathable membrane fitted along with eves vents or whatever (sorry, I'm not a roofer). The kingspan route seems pricey, I'm looking for alternatives really. I've seen the foil bubble wrap rolls that are stapled to the rafter, is this a...

    Insulation between rafters needed?

I think you have misread my topic header, I'm after information about insulating between the rafters, I already have a proper floor up there.

    Insulation between rafters needed?

I have recently had a new roof and want to board out the inside to create a storage room in the attic. I was simply going to board out the attic but now I've had a new roof I'm considering insulating also. Kingspan seems a good option but expensive and time consuming. What other options...

    New roof, a few questions.......

I'm not a roofer, I had 3 companies round for quotes, all said the original timber was fine?

    New roof, a few questions.......

Thanks Alastair. So this is "normal"? That's good to hear! Now, my next question, how do I go about insulating the attic hatch! Mine (I think) is a custom size and made up of wood, measuring 110cm x 51cm (open hatch measurements).

    New roof, a few questions.......

I am aware there is meant to be air movement up there, but how much I'm not sure hence me asking on here.

    New roof, a few questions.......

The roof was inspected and we were told the rafters were fine.

    New roof, a few questions.......

The old roof was awful, it was an asbestos type tile which was very thin, and the felt was very thick all which were typical early 80's I'm presuming. The new roof is "Marley" tile, much thicker, and we also have plastic end caps fitted to either side of the house. It is a typical house, no...

    New roof, a few questions.......

We have recently had a new roof fitted to our property. Last night was the first night we have had high winds and the new roof seems very drafty compared to the old one, so much so that you can see the membrane rippling with the wind when you go up in the attic. Our old roof (original roof...

    "Guardian" Conservatory roofs?

Seems to happen on every thread I start! I either end up arguing with some unhelpful person who cracks wise comments or other people just start! I have had the roof done a couple of months ago, best thing I ever did! Made it in to a proper usable room :) If anyone wants any info just let...

    "Guardian" Conservatory roofs?

What about weight issues? I have seen someone on eBay selling this service but I'm sceptical. My roof is leaking everywhere anyway so needs to be replaced.

    "Guardian" Conservatory roofs?

Thought it sounded too good to be true, and at £6k for my 4x4m conservatory it's pricey  Could you recommend something else?
