    Fire safety regs

Thank you. I really hate my kitchen because there is very little storage space so extra units would make life a bit easier. I may even start baking again

    Fire safety regs

Now I'm confused! Does this plan help? Again, nts. The electric cooker is directly opposite the arch but I can relocate it. The part of the kitchen beyond the dining room is a single storey extension. The patio doors lead to a very long garden with tenfoot access to the rear and we are a corner...

    Fire safety regs

Hi, I'm thinking of making alterations to my kitchen (see pic). It currently is accessed from an arch through longer/dining room to the right and has a non escape window on the left and an external back door on the right. I am considering separating the lounge and dining room with a wall, making...

    Advice pls Ideal mini C28

My Ideal mini C28 is heating water but won't heat rads. Looked on internet for advice on how to 'reset' it but all we can find relates to a model with 2 lights and ours has 1 (green). Can anyone advise checks we can do ourselves before ringing our plumber? Thank you.

    Mould behind kitchen units

Thanks, I will do that. When the weather improves we will crawl under the hedge and take a look at the meter too! Last year they upgraded us to a 'smart meter' so we no longer need to take readings but they also put our direct debit up. I assumed that this was because the kids are no longer...

    Mould behind kitchen units

Our water meter is in the garden so I doubt we could get close enough to see a bubble. what does that mean? We rarely dry items on the radiator, just occasionally some things say don't tumble dry so we don't know what else to do. They tend to be thin sportswear that dry quickly anyway...

    Mould behind kitchen units

If I could knock it down then rebuild exactly the same but to modern standards I would! I moved here from a new build and it is a shock to the system but has more space and a bigger garden than I'd get with a new house. We had the insulated boards put in when we had the bathroom done along with...

    Mould behind kitchen units

I know this is an old post but I have been looking on here for an answer as I have the same problem. New kitchen, replastered, extractor fan used all the time, condenser dryer, air bricks behind units, open plan kitchen (no door) and still mildew on the walls above and behind the units on...

Compaq C300 screen problem (see photo) YES THERE IS ONE NOW!

Cheers for that. When I thought it was a new screen I considered replacing it but thats £70+. It's not a high spec laptop and just a starter one for the kids so it's not worth spending that on it when you can get a new one, better spec for £250. It's a shame nothings made to last these days but...

Compaq C300 screen problem (see photo) YES THERE IS ONE NOW!

Thanks! Would it help to get one of those angled stands that lift the base up and clear the fan? I have also noted a bit of white bleeding in from the bottom of the screen on startup but seems to disappear once booted up.

Compaq C300 screen problem (see photo) YES THERE IS ONE NOW!

:( Looks like we'll be running it into the ground then. It still works now but then goes like the above pic after a couple of hours. Will just have to live with it. Thanks.

Compaq C300 screen problem (see photo) YES THERE IS ONE NOW!

Thank you. Any idea how much a new chip will cost? Would a novice be able to fit it myself?

Compaq C300 screen problem (see photo) YES THERE IS ONE NOW!

Thanks. I did wonder because it just says img on my screen but I thought maybe others could see it as it's showing in my photo file. I'll try again (maybe reduce the size). If it's the invertor I think I will get someone else to fix it as it looks a bit too tricky for me! I have looked at how to...

Compaq C300 screen problem (see photo) YES THERE IS ONE NOW!

Hi, Can anyone diagnose the fault with this please? I'm assuming screen or invertor need replacing but don't know which. Sometimes the laptop works fine for hours with no problem but then it starts flickering slightly and gradually more lines appear until it looks like this. If I shut it down...

Help. Power cut. Now heating not working. BRRRRR!!!!

I'm actually better at these things than my husband (I learnt from my dad). But our system is in a very awkward small, dark cupboard. It's barely big enough for one person to get in and certainly not two. The engineer just said any problems give him a ring but this time of year he's in demand...

Help. Power cut. Now heating not working. BRRRRR!!!!

I will be annoyed if they do charged as I only rang them to see if there had been an interruption to my supply. It was British Gas who said they would send someone round to do a safety check, I didn't ask for one. Thanks for the instructions. We'll take note for next time. We do have the...

Help. Power cut. Now heating not working. BRRRRR!!!!

Yeah, you were right! Diagnostic said no gas supply so we rang emergency gas number. They sent an engineer around to test supply, pressure etc. Just turned gas off then on again and it started working again. (thank goodness!) Toasty warm now. Thanks.
