    It sounds like you have a stuck motorised valve , do you have 2 x 2 port or a 3 port valve? (normally found near the hot water cylinder)

    Yes its doable, the 2 zone valves control the central heating water to heat the rads and/or the cylinder coil.

    Its part of the mixer, if you undo the large nuts holding the shower to the wall the nrvs are in the "legs".

    The nrvs are in the wall mount supply to the shower , you would need to take the shower off the wall and clean or replace .

    Ok start with the ch zone valve, with the controls calling for central heating see if the lever on the ch zone valve is easy to move or has a fair bit of resistance.

    It could still be connected, try turning it down and up a couple of times and see if it clicks.

    As the boiler fires for hot water it’s not a boiler fault, check the thermostat first and post a pic of the heating valves( near your hot water cylinder normally)

    All new hobs have a built in safety device to stop this happening, so new hob is the way to go.

    Your taking a chance of ruining your floor covering if no overflow, if your on ground floor and the risk is acceptable go with the sink you have.
