Sorry to be a pain the backside, but! I`m looking to put a new shower in our downstairs bathroom. The cable run will be approximately 10 metres in length. The shower is (hopefully) going to be 10.5KW.

My question is this, would 10 mm twin and earth cable be ok or am I better off going for 16mm cable?

Would it be particularly difficult to terminate the 16mm (if this is required) in the showers enclosure???

Many thanks in advance

Hi MadMatt..
10 mm twin and earth is more than adequate for a 10.5KW shower.
FLC for your shower = 45.6 amps. For a 10mm square cable, max current capacity = 63 amps. The 6 mm square = 46 amps, but this is much too close to the limits.
Please bear in mind the work you wish to carry out, is notifiable and will require an Electrical Installation Certificate !!

Hope this helps

Many thanks Tanglewood. Its all being done by an electrician as a favour he owes me. Being a spanner wielding mech fitter the most I know about electricity is you have to pay for it!!

Many thanks for the reply, very much appreciated!

Pay for it.
Who pays for Electricity?
I`ve never met anyone who does.

I think someone is being a little pedantic with terms here
