1996 peugeot 406d speedometer

speedometer working erratically some times not at all or shows wrong speed help please

If it's a cable drive, nut on one end could be loose. Bit of a pig if it's the dashboard end.

I think you may find it's an electronic unit, look to the back of the engine,it should be in the gearbox close to the bulkhead.I think the unit is pushed in and held in place with a rubber plug.If you get a haynes manual it will explain how.Not a difficult job.
