Hi, I am having problems with 2 upstairs radiators not getting hot also the boiler is making a noise which sounds like a bird flapping around inside, I think this is what they call kettling ?.

took problem rad off the wall and ran hosepipe through, replaced TRV with regular valve and re-hung [problem stays the same]. I have bled air from all rads, pump and any other vent unions I could find. Tried balancing the rads - no change. If I turn all rads off except the problem one it will get hot which leads me to suspect the pump is faulty rather than a blockage - would you agree ?

This is starting to drive me crazy !

Have you checked that your feed and expansion tank has water in it and the ballvalve is operating correctly?

Thankyou, I haven't checked that yet so will have a look when I get home, there is only a single black plastic tank in the bathroom cupboard and no expansion tank (I have also checked the loft).

The tank in the cupboard is not huge and there is not much clearance but I may be able to see inside with a mirror....

how full should it be ?

Quick update:

The expansion tank is filling up fine and the ball valve is not sticking.

Last night I turned off all radiator valves and opened just the 2 problem ones and they got nice and hot, I then opened a couple more and they got hot, then a couple more and I had 6 toasty warm radiators until the heating clicked off on the timer. When the heating came on this morning the two problem rads were cold again !

It feels to me that the pump has not got the grunt to pump the water so Im gonna change the pump and see what happens ....

changed pump - even though it looked fairly new and within 5 mins all radiators were piping hot !
