Hi all,

I have just connected my new 25mm MDPE water main to a 25mm compression brass stop cock. I used a copper tube insert into the MDPE pipe and tightened the connection (probably a little more than i would usually when connecting copper to copper using compression). I now have a connection that wont pull apart but still turns around on the 25mm MDPE pipe. is this normal / ok with this type of fitting?

Or do I need to tighten further?

part used was SF Product Code: 86048 (Poly Stop Cock 15 x 25mm)

thanks in advance

Thanks for this. This will be the first and only time I do this type of connection. Just to clarify, there is no need to tighten further until it stops turning? ( not sure it would stop it even).

The connection as it is feels extremely tight and won't pull apart!

Come to think of it, the plastic pusfit stop end currently at the other end of the pipe turns aswell.

Thanks for your help!

No, don't keep tightening it, once it's waterproof and tested leave it.

I would back fill but leave the connection exposed for 24hrs under test.

The only thing you need to check is that the pipe doesn't turn back and loosen the fitting, hence the test.
