Hi guys,

Have bought some engineered wood flooring - top layer wood stuff. We will be putting it down on a concrete floor, and I was wondering what the best practice is? Do we drop a membrane down and then get the wood underlay stuff, or just go with the foil topped underlay?

Any help info is appreciated thanks

:)

Hi

You need to know that the concrete is not going to be damp, so you certainly need to put a 1200 gauge membrane over the whole floor. Then depending on how level and even the concrete is would dictate what kind of underlay you use.

You might also consider laying 50mm of cellotex type insulation as this would make the floor a great deal warmer and take out any lumps and bumps in the concrete. Don't buy it from Wickes of B&Q but find a specialist insulation supplier...it'll save you at least half the price!

Hope you've got tough knees!!

Good luck
