Absolutely!...

..just thought I would join the nation in seeing how many times I can start a sentence with that word.

It's obviously the buzz word of the moment. Count up how many times you hear it on tv. (well, that's if you have nothing better to do).

Recently, we received an e-mail from a teacher wishing to bring her class on a visit. One sentence began with 'Yeah'. Why? Because it's trendy?
'Yes' is easier and quicker to type, so why 'Yeah'?
She was young, of course.

JBR. You're an absolute mate! I'm giving a talk on Monday about the falling standards in the profession and was struggling for a real example. Well, thanks to you, I'm not struggling now. Yeah, you came up with the goods when I only came onto the site for help regarding ladder safety.

Yeah, well, like I mean don't go higher than the fourth rung, innit, like, know what I mean(?).

Monkey World in Dorset, was originally intended to provide a home for abused chimpanzees but is now home a different species of primates called trolls. I came down to visit about 2 years ago, met Alison Cronin who very kindly took me round introducing the animals by name. Now which one are you? Are you Arfur or Valerie?

Glad to be of help.
There's more. Something I moaned about on here before.
It involved a local authority inspector who came to give us a 'lesson' on English teaching (his 'specialism').
Before my mind wandered (as there was nothing really new here) I noticed on his Powerpoint presentation the word 'practiced'. Obviously, as a verb, it should have been 'practised'.
I didn't say anything, of course. That would have been rude and embarrassing for him (bearing in mind he was an English 'specialist'). I came to the conclusion that:
(a) he was using an American spellchecker; and
(b) he can't spell!
You're welcome to quote me if you like. No names, but this was in the Salford LEA several years ago.

Wouldn't dare use this example knowing full well that I would embarrass half the audience.
