Acacia wood table repair

Hello,

Please see attached photo. My sister-in-law and husband recently moved back from Vietnam. Prior to leaving they purchased an acacia wood table which was damaged slightly in transit.

What would be the best way to carry out a repair? Would a decent wood filler work? What to use after filling?

The trick with fixing dents is the bit you want...maybe the bit with filler too as you can see the fibres have been severed in the damage - the nearest I've been able to find to the filler he uses in the UK is this stuff (available in different colours) by Everbuild from Toolstation: http://www.toolstation.com/search?searchstr=55602 15238 79488 24128

you could try lifting the dents with a damp towel and an iron, but to fix that properly you need a french polisher.
