I am looking at replacing the insulation in my loft, the joist are approx 70 mm deep and are not deep enough to put the correct amount of insulation down without squashing it. Can anybody advise if I should buy some rough sawn timber and increase the height of the joists and then board out, or should I put space blanket down and then a semi solid insulation board directly on top and then screw down the loft boards on top of that.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
