Advice Please - Moving a plug socket

Hello,

I am looking at putting a Chimney hood in my kitchen that will run from the cealing down.

The only problem I have got is that currently where the chimney will run there is a switch there, that would operate a extractor fan.

How would I go about moving it only a few cm along the wall?

what is the switch doing at the moment? (the one you want to move)

I currently have a cuboard below the switch, and have a old exctractor fan that this switch operates.

well if the chimney is just screwed or clipped above the extractor and the chimney covers the old switch you could just use that. if you ever wanted to isolate extractor you would just pull off the chimney

I am getting a new extractor fan/chimney and was worried as the switch would then be in the chimney part. It wont effect any electrics will it by just putting the chimney over the switch?

only thing to be careful of is not to drill where you could expect the cables to be, up and down or left or right of the socket
