Boiler – Alpha 280E
Problem: We have lost all heating and hot water.

About 3 hours ago, we suddenly lost hot water. Then a little later we realised that heating had also stopped. The indicator lights ‘electrical supply to the boiler’ and ‘boiler is supplying hot water’ indicator lights are showing ‘green’. The pilot light is not working (meaning that the boiler is not lit?). The boiler fan is working as it should.

We have so far:

Cut off the electricity supply and restored it.
Put the selector switch (the third one from the left), to ‘0’, and back to the left position.
Pressed the white re-set button or the red re-set buttons a couple of times.

None of the above had any effect.

This is not the first time it displayed these symptoms. About two weeks ago, it started behaving in an identical manner. But after an hour or so, it corrected itself.

The ironic thing is that we have had a service agreement with Alpha for a very long time, and only cancelled it last September when they increased the monthly premium to £15.99!
Please help.
