Alternative to piers every 3m?

Why are you comparing reinforcement to deal different loading of horizontal concrete slabs - a material that behaves under load and fractures completely different to masonry units?

The brochure that Ronny linked to is as good as BS 5628 in describing the function of reinforced masonry.

You only have to read it completely and not selectively

I think this has run its course now, with three of us trying to enlighten you
