I want to install sail shades over an area of decking. They will be fixed to wooden posts on one side, and to the side of my house on the other side. The shades will be rectangular and measure approximately 2x3 metres.

I intend to use M8 eye bolts through the wooden posts.

What should I use for anchorage points in the brick wall?

thanks,

Dave

we use hook plates

How have you fixed the hook plates to the wall? Expansion bolts?

I'm concerned about the potentially high loads that could be placed on the sails in windy conditions. I take it you've not had such problems?

I've considered bolting a beam to the wall to spread the load, and attach the sails to that. Would that be overkill?

thanks,

Dave

Great, that's good enough for me. Thanks for your help.
