Machine as subject.
Is getting on a bit now, but the drum and all that is ok so decided to try to fix. It would not spin the other week so decided to have a fiddle around. Took the belt off had a look at the motor underneath, switched it on and motor worked ? So put belt back on. All was well and wife was pleased, but I said/thought "hmmm I aint done anything really so dont be suprised if it dies!"
Needless to say it died a few days later again
I though maybe there was loose connection on motor but to be honest the plug looked fine. They only other thought is that I had given the brushes a shove.
So i stripped down motor and the one brush looked very low and the other not wonderful. If they had both been like the best of the two I wouldnt of bothered but the one was quite bad so I had a look around and got them for £9 odd.
Fitted brushes today - Has made no difference at all
So time for some more logic. There is not a lot in this machine really, so far I recognise pressure sensor (to detect if enough water in I think), heater ring terminals on back of drum, usual solenoids for water, cycle switch, motor and pump.
I have even moved the cycle switch around while on to see if anything starts a spin but nothing.
So on a spin cycle , the washing machine turns on the pump that works fine, then it should startup a slow spin but nothing, the switch works its way through the cycle so I dont think its waiting for any sensors. Detected a feed on the motor brushes, stays on for a bit then goes off as if it is powering the motor but I have not done any sort of load test (was thinking maybe a weak supply from Cycle switch?), other than that maybe fault Cycle switch not controlling the speed settings (seems a load of cable I assume control different speeds/coils in motor)?
Anyone got any ideas, thanks in advance
