My daughter has a problem with her 2014 Astra MK6 1.7dti Eco. With the engine running if the brake pedal is held down you can feel the pedal dropping down towards the floor. It does not go down all the way to the floor, but there is a movement of around 3 inches. What would be the most likely cause of this?

The car is a bit young for a master cylinder problem, but do take the car back to the dealer under warranty.....I'll stick my neck out and say that diesel vehicles which have their own brake vacuum pump do tend to do this more than petrol models which rely on engine vacuum.
