BBC programme on dinosaurs mentioned Griffins

It gave historical accouts of four legged beasts with feathers about the size of a wolf that hunted men, nested on the ground......fossilised nests have been found and apparently fossils that looked similar to the description.

Apparently some of the descriptions are so accurate its believed they must have seen the fossilised remains. Probably saw the real thing.
