I'm currently refitting my kitchen and am looking change to a gas hob with a built under electric oven
The gas supply pipe currently runs above the ceiling, down the kitchen wall in a chase and finishes in a position that will be behind the oven. The pipe also has an untidy looking dog leg a couple of feet from the end.
I've read it can be awkward to fit the pipe work for a gas hob behind an electric oven and that it might not be possible to access the isolation valve without removing the oven?
As there is currently no plaster on the wall I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to get the pipe moved to the right so that it finishes behind the adjacent base unit.
My questions:
1. Given there is no plaster on the wall and the floor above can be easily lifted is it worth getting the pipe moved to the right while it can be done easily?
2. Does anyone have a rough idea of the cost to get the pipe moved by a Gas Safe registered plumber? I'd plan to chase the wall out myself so I'd 'guess' it would be a straight forward job for the right man. Maybe be 2-3 metres of pipe, a couple of bends, some tape and a couple of joints (and overheads of course)?
