I'm looking to reboard a ceiling with 4 downlighters - idea is to remove, redo ceiling and then replace them (in approx the same place)
In theory this should take a few hours ...but I know this could turn into days....
They don't have individual transformers - from memory pretty sure all joined to one (need to check this out properly - either move a mountain of cr*p in the boarded part of the attic or move the insulation and make a safe path in the unboarded area ) The light switch also controls a fan...
Will have to disconnect each of them to remove anyway - is it safe just to tape these wires and turn the rest of the lighting circuit back on? (Have done similar with wall/ceiling fittings before but they are suspended - these will be sitting on something...)
What would be the safest option whilst allowing us to use the rest of the upstair lights?
