Our kitchen sink has a blockage. I have take the U-Bend out and checked that it is clear, I have also got a spring down the waste pipe some 3 metres until it hits something very hard (possibly a bend?). Not amount of turning will get the spring further and the drain remains blocked.

I have also tried plunging to no avail.

Any suggestions what I could try next?

Both checked and both are clear. Is the only option but to get a drain company out?

Do you have a wet vac?

You can suck out the blockage, that's what I normally do.

If you have Solvent Weld waste fittings, (glued) get the garden hose down the pipe and seal the end with an old cloth,

have someone open the tap slowly while you hold the cloth in place, the mains pressure will shift the blockage.

Do not do this if you have Push Fit waste fittings.

I tried the hosepipe trick last night to no avail. A drain unblocking tradesman came around today with a rod connected to a drill and got the blockage out within minutes. He didn't see any fat residue so isn't sure what caused the blockage. May have been dishwasher soap residue.

Hopefully it will remain clear now. Thanks for the responses.

£65 incl. Obviously it only took him 15min, but it was a fixed price for what may have been more work. All the other drain unblocking companies wanted an average of £80+ vat.
