Hello, i have just been to a friends house and their dishwasher has just decided not to function
the model is an excel SGS46E18GB/73, from what i can see the machine is not filling with water, when asked to start a progamme i can hear various clicks inside which i presume are elctrical switches/relays getting power across them?

can someone please start me off with the simple things to check and see how i get on

cheers

The clicking sound you hear may in fact be a piece of broken glass/crockery hindering the drain pump from evacuating the sump water. If a dishwasher doesn't drain properly or time's-out then it won't fill. Take out the filters & bail out as much water as you can from the sump. Look in the bottom left hand side of the sump for a single torx T20 screw. Remove it & lift away the plastic cover it holds in place, look carefully for a foreign object in the pump impellor cavity (try to rotate the impellor manually if you can't see anything obvious). This kind of thing happens all the time.

Hello, thanks for this info but i checked the pump impellor and it spins freely, the fault you describe actually happened on my machine.

cheers
