Bosch Exxcel 1200 Express washing machine drum won't turn

Hi! My washing machine fills with water and drains, so no issues with the pump! However, the drum won't turn during the washing cyle. I've looked at various forum threads and it would appear that it is either the motor or the bushes within the motor that is the cause of the issue. Is there any way of telling which one of these it might be (preferably without dismantling any bits!) before purchasing one or the other? Purcahsing a motor sounds like an expensive option if i make the wrong call!!!

Cover yourself by buying the brushes, cheaper option. I don't know your machine.

You would have to remove one of the brushes from the motor to check if its worn right down to check it properley but you could first tap each brush with a screwdriver handle and then select spin to see if it starts if it does then its the brushes this sometimes works but not all the time though !!
