Bosch Table Top Dishwasher : Pump pulses ON/OFF

Hi,
My Bosch Tabletop dishwasher is about 8 years old. It seems to fill and drain OK, but the circulation pump operates as if it is being pulsed. I haven't timed it (I ran out of time last night) but I would guess a few seconds ON then a few seconds OFF.

Can anyone give me any pointers to the cause? I am happy to take the machine apart, take measurements etc.
