I want to box in the upper 3ft of a 6" VE flue in the kitchen. I would normally use asbestolux board on aluminium battens. I have been told that asbestolux is no longer available. Can anyone out there suggest an alternative or could I use plasterboard and face with plywood. In all cases I would fill the box with fibreglass insulation.

You can still get the equivalent materail but the name escapes me. If you ask around the building suppliers they will tell you what its called now or just ask for fire proof board.
