Bricking up an external kitchen door

We purchased a new house in 2008 and wish to extend the kitchen units. The problem is they have put an outside door right in the middle of the main wall. We never use this door as the house is on a side plot and so leads onto a road.

I know a house requires two main exits out of the property but we also have the patio doors in the lounge which lead into a side garden.

Can we therefore loose the kitchen door?

I cant see why not, dont be disappointed if it it stands out like a sore thumb from the outside though.

luckily the builders are still on site and have matching bricks. Should look ok.
