Building a hearth

The old fireplace had some loose tiles and a mixture of earth, mortar and the odd brick. I dug some of that out and it now looks like this (looks like earth below that):


I'm planning on putting in a wood burner (about 105Kg weight). The hearth dimensions are good (150 either side and 300 in front), but I'm unsure what depth it should be with just earth below. Do I need any form of DPM, or is it OK to just sling in some mortar and rubble?

i would blind it,then dpm then sling in the concrete/screed.
