I have the floor up in my bathroom and have noticed that the joists are 6" x 3" solid timber and are built into the the single-brick wall at 300mm centres. the actual holes for each joist are about a brick wide (100mm) so I have a 100mm hole in the wall every 300mm. The bricks between the holes are a stack of 3 full bricks (~200mm wide) one on top of the other. Is this OK? My concerns are

(a) three standard bricks on on top of the other
(b) There aren't any lintels above the joist holes

The walls are about 8 feet of bricks above the joist holes. On one wall there is nothing sitting on top, just fresh air. The other wall has the loft joists sitting on it.
