at the moment i have a potterton puma 80e.
thinking of buying a new boiler.
any recommendations in the £500-£650 region

only boiler i can think of in that region that is half decent is Potterton Performa 24 Eco HE. Biasi's are in that region too. You are looking at approx £700+ for a decent boiler these days.

how much is the retail for a WB or an ideal???

why should a MOP get any discount at all, how many boilers are THEY going to buy a year

£650 will get you a Band A premix 32 kW Biasi or Heatline, perhaps also a Ravenheat or Halstead Eden.

These are economy boilers but will give good service if they are properly installed. That includes a gas supply conforming to the British Standard with a pressure drop of only 1 mB at 35 kW boiler load. That means a gas supply pipe size of at least 28 mm if its more than 4-5 m from the meter.

The rather cheaper hybrid boilers like the 28 kW Biasi M96 or the Potty Performa HE are closer to £550 and are more tolerant of gas supply inadequacies.
