I'm working on a DIY project which has come to laying feltbacked carpet (7mm) over 11mm cloud 9 underlay. The problem is, the floor is tiled, so am unsure how to proceed with securing the underlay to the floor, and then securing the carpet to the underlay?! Any body know how this is done?!

Firstly, felt back carpet is not designed to be fitted with underlay, it's really designed to be laid straight to the subfloor.

If you want to fit an underlay, then the best option is to but some felt backed carpet gripper (different to standard gripper) and glue this to the tiles with grip fill. Fit the underlay, fit the carpet.

If you can only source pin gripper, do as above but you will need a knee kicker and don't be suprised if at some point the carpet lifts off the gripper, it's a risk you take as the carpet is not designed to hold on pin gripper.

Would your suggestion be the same method if laying (action backed-hessain) carpet, Knee kicker included? Also, would double backed tape and spray glue be an alternative, or joint option to pin gripping the carpet.

Thanks in advance...

If you are laying on underlay, you'll need gripper and a knee kicker.

The feltback can go straight on the floor.
